| History The history of Campground Vorrelveen starts in Autumn 2005, when the first bushes were planted. During the following Winter it became evident that the site retained too much water after long rains. Therefore, the whole site was equipped with a good drainage system in the Spring of 2006. We used more than a kilometre of drainage to keep the grounds in good condition. Now, everything is growing and flowering lushly and we are quite busy with pruning and thinning. In February 2006 we started with restructuring the traditional barn (a so-called “Kapschuur”) into a modern sanitary building and a cosy recreational room. The barn got a forefront and several partition walls were erected. The floor-heating in the shower keeps your feet warm during the cooler days in Spring and Autumn. After the completion of the comfortable and spacey sanitary building, the campground was opened in July 2006 and the first guests enjoyed a very nice camping ground. The recreational room was completed in February 2007. This (heated) room is, especially during bad weather, highly valued by the guests due to the cosy ambiance and comfort. The camping grounds The campsites are spacey and you can pick your own site. We appreciate that you make use of an breathable ground mat in your front tent and not a plastic mat. This will stimulate the quality of the grass. The children’s play area has things to offer for all ages. There is an aerial runway, a swing, a play fort with glide, climb wall and sand pit. Also, we have several carts available. All camping options are welcome. The tents and caravans are positioned on the grass field. All sites have optional electricity. For the campervans and motor homes, a former ground silo was restructured into a campervan site, with electricity, close to the herb garden and with an uninterrupted view over the meadows. |
